Minimum Experience Senior Manager/Supervisor

We're looking for a Senior (hands-on as needed) Data Architect to steer an enterprise-wide data re-architecture and engineering endeavor. You’ll partner with and work in collaboration with various stakeholders like business, product, and technical teams to analyze user needs and develop the future of data services as a product within BriteCore’s platform. This is a 100% remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for vision, design, implementation, and continuous evolvement of Data Program’s architecture  
  • In close collaboration with VPs of Engineering and Data Program Product Manager, responsible for strategic sequencing of architectural runway work, breaking down into implementable pieces, writing technical stories/enablers, running and testing POCs
  • Guide projects to scale our systems and make data analysis more efficient for an ever-growing number of clients: Redesigning our data pipeline from previous generation monolithic, warehouse-centric to a lake-centric architecture to be more cost-effective as our data volume grows 
  • Rolling out a structured events pipeline for analytics and productization of high-volume event streams 
  • Building a centralized, discoverable data catalog to enable users across the company/clients to efficiently find and use data. 
  • Manage Lead Engineers and Architects
  • Lead a 100% remote team

Experience

  • Knowledge of multiple different big data stacks and/or architectures, working directly on designing, building and maintaining them
  • Professional experience designing or working within a lake-centric architecture and microservices
  • Expert-level understanding of the Python programming language
  • Hands-on experience with AWS’ big data tools like Redshift, Glue, EMR, etc
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, data modeling, data integration and database development technologies and processes
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff

Requirements

  • 10+ years of IT experience with 5 years in data management with prior experience in leading and managing data architecture teams
  • Experience in all facets of software development life cycle including analysis, design, development, data conversion, data security, system integration and implementation using waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • 7+ years of experience leading and managing large scale, complex applications with high-performance needs
  • 10 years of conceptual, logical and physical data modeling experience (Relational & Dimensional)
  • 5+ years experience with Python and AWS
  • 3 years of experience in Reference, Master, and Metadata management
  • 3 years of experience in Data Quality and adherence to data standards and best practices
  • Experience in designing Data Warehouse and/or Data Lake using big data architecture
  • Experience in DevOps Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) implementing cloud-based optimized development processes is a plus
  • Experience in service-oriented architecture and microservices
  • Ability to think clearly, plan effectively, organize and schedule people or tasks to develop action plans leading to resolving problems and achieving specific goals
  • Self-driven, Innovative and strong leadership, and influencing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff
  • Willingness to mentor engineers
  • Ability to work remotely
